GM plans to start production of Silverado EV in early 2023

GM will take the covers off of his Silverado EV at CES 2022, but you’ll have to wait considerably longer to get one in your garage. To GM has announced to Automotive News that its mainstream electric pickup will go into production in early 2023 before it goes on sale at the end of the year. It comes well after that Hummer EV pickup Delivery in December, then and months after Electric Hummer SUV (now planned for early 2023).

The automaker is still holding back on details, although it has already teased some important details. The Silverado EV will share the same powertrain as well Ultium battery technology like the lobster and Cadillac Lyriq, with the promise of a range of over 400 miles and all-wheel steering. The regular version will have a glass roof that increases the perceived interior space, and there will be fleet variants for workplace buyers.

The timing is not ideal. The electric Silverado will appear over a year after its expected main rival Ford F-150 flash. Teslas Cybertruck could arrive earlier. And while the prices are still unknown, there is a chance that Rivian R1Tcould suck some of Chevy’s customers off for the next two years. Put simply, the CES reveal could be crucial in generating interest and raising expectations – buyers will want to know if the Silverado is worth the extra patience.
