OpenSea NFT’s trading volume is increasing as the Bored Ape mania intensifies

NFT trading volume on OpenSea spikes in January amid renewed speculative frenzy at Yuga Labs’ Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC).

According to data sent From “rchen8” to Dune Analytics, OpenSea has generated a trading volume of more than 700 million US dollars since the beginning of 2022, with January 3rd being the biggest day with a 24-hour volume worth a whopping 255.8 million US dollars of the year was.

While popular viewers like Wu have blockchain claimed that volume was a record high for OpenSea on January 3rd, earlier data published by rchen8 on Dune Analytics shows that August 29th hit the all-time high (ATH) of $ 322 million.

In December, OpenSea’s monthly volume topped $ 3.24 billion and was just 5.3% below the platform’s ATH of $ 3.42 billion in August. With the NFT marketplace already trading more than $ 700 million in the first four days of January, the record highs could soon be broken if momentum continues this month.

One factor that could add to the growing volumes of OpenSea is that recent mania surrounds the BAYC- and MAYC-NFTs together with a basket with other projects from Yuga Labs.

Data from CryptoSlam shows that MAYC is currently the best-placed NFT project in terms of seven-day volume in the secondary markets with $ 93.2 million, followed by BAYC-NFTs in second place with $ 88.4 million.
