Samsung’s 55-inch Odyssey Ark curved monitor can be rotated into a huge portrait display

Samsung has unveiled its largest curved monitor to date, the 55-inch Odyssey Ark, which proves its potential for both gaming and productivity. For gamers, it encloses your field of vision so you can see both ahead and next to you as you play Flight simulator, for example. But it can also be rotated 90 degrees to portrait for work to show a zoom feed, spreadsheets, and anything else you want to see.

The Odyssey Ark is a Quantum Dot Mini LED display with a fairly sharp curvature and an aspect ratio of 16: 9, as opposed to the 49-inch’s much wider 32: 9 format Odyssey Neo G9. It can be swiveled and tilted using the height-adjustable stand (HAS) so that you can adjust it to the optimal angle. This is pretty important because when tilted vertically it is so tall that you have to stretch your neck to see the top of the display.

It also offers multiview options that allow users to customize Odyssey Ark to fit the game or program exactly with a fully customizable screen size without affecting the 4K display and bright, colorful images. The monitor also has a wireless dial controller to control the lighting and the interface, “Samsung wrote in a press release. Other specs like refresh rate, color accuracy, latency and more are yet to be announced, but with Mini LED you can probably count on one reasonably bright, fast and color-accurate monitor leave.

Samsung’s press photos only show the Odyssey Ark at an angle from above and from the side, but YouTuber Tim Schofield tweeted some pictures of the CES display space. Suffice it to say that it is pretty grandiose in portrait mode and essentially works as a triple display, with the top literally towering over the user. Samsung plans to bring it to the US in the second half of 2022 but has not yet announced prices.
